Dancing During Isolation - a DANZ Resource

During the current situation with Covid-19 and New Zealand moving to level 4 alert, many people will be missing out on the physical and mental health benefits of dance in all its diversity. DANZ has been putting together a collection of FREE online dance resources that hopefully will keep you inspired to continue dancing at home during isolation. We will add to the list as we go - please feel free to email your own resources, or any that you are aware of to Happy dancing and stay safe.

The New Zealand Dance Company are offering a series of online classes weekday morning including Ballet, Strength & Conditioning, Contemporary and Yoga - Click here for the schedule and registration.

Jolt Dance will be posting some short Facebook Live videos from their tutors so you can join in at home:

Follow the step-by-step videos from choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and dancer Samantha van Wissen, who will teach you the moves, step by step, from the second part of the performance Rosas dance Rosas, created by the legendary dance company Rosas 30 years ago. After that it becomes your dance: you dance Rosas. In a different setting, with a huge number of dancers… any way you like!

The Ballet Blog - - have developed a Training at Home Planning Guide, with some of their most popular areas of focus and exercises that can easily be done at home, as well as some helpful ideas on how to analyse your technique, make goals and chart your progress. Link to the downloadable PDF here:

The Royal New Zealand Ballet dance educators are preparing a new series of online workshops for students, but for now you can access their resources from previous productions here.

Projekt Team are hosting an online dance battle tournament for all New Zealander's who are currently in a 4 week Lockdown! All styles, ages and skill levels welcome. Head to their Instagram or Facebook page for more info.

Black Grace are offering an online engagement opportunity for students/teachers over the next few weeks.  Each Monday, Black Grace will announce a Company member on Instagram  / Facebook - post a question in the ‘comment’ section by end of day Wednesday.  They will collate questions and the Dancer will post their answer in a video published each Friday.

Rachel Ruckstuhl-Mann is hosting some online movement classes through her Facebook page Whānui Moves. She runs somatic fitness classes on Wednesday mornings and Poi classes Thursday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Also Family movement classes Friday mornings. 

GASP! Dance Collective have a series of inclusive dance videos on Youtube. Their first live streaming class is Thursday 4 April at 5.30pm:
