OneMusic

OneMusic exists to simplify the music licensing process for New Zealand businesses. OneMusic license businesses for the use of music, and return licence fees to music creators as royalties.

Under the Copyright Act (1994), having permission from music creators to use their music in a business setting – including dance schools - is a legal requirement.

OneMusic is a joint initiative between music rights member-organisations APRA AMCOS and Recorded Music NZ. As member organisations, after administration fees, all money collected is returned to music creators as royalties.

OneMusic licences grant dance schools the permission they need to use music as a part of dance classes, to supply music to students for practice and to film performances (excluding the filming of dramatic context performances).

APRA AMCOS and Recorded Music – OneMusic’s parent organisations - are also able to help you get the permission that you need to use music as a part of dance performances.

For more information about using music in your dance classes, using music in performances, or filming performances, visit the OneMusic website.

As a part of what they do, APRA AMCOS administer the rights to use musical works as a part of concerts and theatrical performances – including music used in dance performances. APRA AMCOS work as an intermediary between you and rights holders, helping you get the permission you need to use musical works.
