New Zealand Dance Industry Strategy
Produced by DANZ (2008)
"Dance is a fundamental form of cultural expression, a great way to have fun and to keep fit. I commend DANZ for taking on the challenge of finding out where the dance sector sees itself, where it wants to go, and how it wants to go forward." - Judith Tizard
The New Zealand Dance Industry Strategy was launched at Parliament on 9 September 2008. The strategy was written by DANZ in consultation with a wide range of people working in dance and was funded by Creative New Zealand.
Five areas are identified in the strategy as key for the development of the dance industry in Aotearoa are as follows:
- Connections
- Spaces
- Viability
- Visibility
- Skill
The strategy articulates the dance industry's vision for NZ dance to be seen widely, both at home and internationally.
