Leah Maclean explores what it is like for two Hip Hop dancers to take their dance to another level and place.
At 18, Connor Masseurs and Toa Paranihi find themselves training in Contemporary Dance at the renowned New Zealand School of Dance (NZSD).
It might not seem surprising to see these two young talented dancers in the institution, but it may come as a surprise to learn that these two boys have come into Contemporary Dance with strong backgrounds in Hip Hop.
Given the perceived division between the genres it has been an interesting transition for the boys, one that has challenged them, enlightened them and shaped them.
Connor and Toa talk to Leah about their transition, their motivations and their goals.
