There are essentially three pricing strategies:
- Skim pricing, sets prices high to skim a segment of the market
- Penetration pricing, sets prices low to attract a larger market
- Neutral pricing, removes price from the equation
Although neutral pricing is often adopted by default, it is a combination of all these strategies that works best for most organisations.
If you are looking to develop your audiences, pricing can be an effective way to encourage people to attend more frequently or try new things, but for many the more difficult problem is how to develop new audiences.
