About Clare
Clare Battersby is one of NZ’s most experienced dance educators, and has been teaching children to express themselves creatively for over 25 years.
In December 2014 Clare’s contribution to children’s education and the community was recognised with a Kiwibank New Zealander of the Year Local Heroes Award.
Her alter ego, Fairy Clare arose while teaching at the Melbourne Botanic Gardens and led to her presenting at the Dance and Child International (daCI) conference in Finland. From this, she developed shows for and with children about nature, which she has performed in botanic gardens around the world.
In July 2015 she will be representing the three to seven year olds of New Zealand when she presents her research at the Dance and Child International (daCI) Conference 2015 in Copenhagen.
