 Milagros 

Educational Resource ( 2 DVD's and booklet) 

The two disc set contains:
A documentary of a six minute extract from Milagros for use in the external assessment AS 90297 / AS 91211, choreography filmed in rehearsal and performance and interview footage with choreographer Javier De Frutos. The booklet contains comprehensive written analysis of Milagros designed to thoroughly prepare students for the external assessment. 

 

The Anatomy of a Passing Cloud

Educational Resource ( 2 DVD's and booklet)

The two disc set contains:
A documentary featuring interviews with choreographer Javier De Frutos, ballet mistress Turid Revfeim and RNZB dancers. The 2nd DVD has been prepared for use in the external assessment and contains a six minute extract of The Anatomy of the Passing Cloud followed by 10 minutes of black screen and the extract again (as per external assessment specifications).
The workbook contains comprehensive written analysis of The Anatomy of the Passing Cloud designed to thoroughly prepare students for the external assessment


    

What is Ballet?

An education resource for schools. Company dancer Shannon Dawson teaches some of the basics of ballet, together with extracts from RNZB repertoire. Students are then guided to make their own choreography.

Royal New Zealand Ballet 

A behind-the-scenes look at the RNZB's preparation for their 2003 production of Romeo and Juliet. It cuts between the rehearsal process and interviews with the dancers. Ideal for studying ballet as a dance style, and to see how a production is put together. Suitable for years 5-13.

A behind-the-scenes documentary following a hectic five-week road trip as the Royal New Zealand Ballet takes its unique brand of dance out to small-town New Zealand. Dancers brave tiny stages, dodgy wiring and rickety town halls to entertain audiences in the heartland.

Jean, The Ballet

Royal New Zealand Ballet / Mary Jane O'Reilly

A television version of the ballet which celebrates the life and achievements of New Zealand aviator, Jean Batten. 'Jean' was commissioned by the RNZB to mark New Zealand's Sesquicentennial in 1990. This resource includes footage of the ballet plus teacher's resource by the choreographer. Suitable for years 5–13.

Anita Hutchins

A warm up, dance class, several choreographies and a warm down, taught by Anita Hutchins, winner of So You Think You Can Dance TV show 2006. Based on Ballet and contemporary dance techniques, the exercises and sequences are appropriate for anyone 10+. Carillion Dance - Peace Movements

Susan Jordan

A site specific work choreographed by Susan Jordan in 1991 around the National War Memorial Carillon Tower which soars above Pukeahu (Mt Cook) Wellington and whose music rings out over the city. The choreographer encourages the study of Peace Movements as a way of acknowledging WWI and subsequent wars NZ has been involved in.
