In 2008 to cater for the needs of our most dedicated and talented students we established our very own youth dance company "One Step Beyond". We are delighted to announce that One Step Beyond was invited from a competitive selection process to perform and participate at the first Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival, YDance in Glasgow, Scotland in July 2014. We are proud that three of our former company members are currently in full time dance training. One in London at Trinity Laban, one at the NZ School of Dance and one at Whitereia.
Step Beyond Studios is committed to providing an effective and innovative dance education programme in a positive and supportive environment where all students are respected and acknowledged. Formerly named Marian McDermott School of Dance the school was established in 1995 with 2015 being our 20th Anniversary year. We specialise in the teaching of classical ballet and contemporary dance. Our studios are based in Torbay and in 2015 we proudly opened a new branch of the school at the Silverdale Hall. To reflect this growth and our progressive teaching approach we have decided to change the name of our school to Step Beyond Studios. The management remains the same with Marian McDermott as Principal and Head of the ballet programme and Grace Woollett as head of the contemporary programme.
Classical ballet - beginners to advanced. Ages 5 - adult. Contemporay dance - beginners to advanced - ages 8 - adult. Muscle and Bone - a high energy dance based fitness class. Conditioning Class - improves flexibility and strength.
