Irish Dance for Everyone Kathryn Olcott is the owner and principal of The Irish Beat Dance School which started in 2006 in Dunedin and is comprised of over 65 dancers ages 5 to adult. Although her teaching focus is in traditional Irish Step Dancing, she has also studied the more social forms of Irish dance; Irish Country Set, Ceili and Sean-nós style. The Irish Beat Dance School promotes an environment where students are encouraged, challenged and motivated to excel while developing an appreciation of Irish dancing, culture and heritage in an atmosphere that is relaxed, supportive and fun. Dancing in the spirit of community fellowship is of utmost importance and school performance groups are known for upbeat performances, combining traditional steps with modern music allowing dancers to use their creativity and skills.
