DANZ STAFF CHANGES 2018

DANZ welcomes Kirstie Baxter to the team, in the role of Communications Coordinator, based in Wellington. Kirstie takes over from Leah Maclean who takes over the role of Projects Coordinator previously undertaken by Faye Jansen.

Kirstie has a passion for the arts, and in particular dance. She was previously the Administration Manager for Footnote New Zealand Dance where she became fully immersed in the dance sector prior to taking some time off to start a family. We are thrilled to have Kirstie join the DANZ whānau, where she will transition back to work and be a part of the dance world again.

We are also pleased to have Tia Sagapolutele join the team on a contract basis to work with us to deliver our Auckland based projects funded by Foundation North. Tia has  been working at DANZ since the beginning of this year as our intern from the Tautai internship programme. We are looking forward to supporting Tia through the next phase of her career development in the dance industry.

DANZ also takes the opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of Sarah Knox, who has left the DANZ Editorial Committee. During her time on the committee, Sarah provided valuable insight to ensuring content of the Magazine was relevant and of interest to a broad audience. She has also been instrumental in helping us grow a pool of new writers to provide different voices for dance in the Magazine. DANZ will be looking to appoint some new representatives from the dance sector to work with the team on the Magazine Editorial Committee. In the meantime, Celia Jenkins has joined the team on a contract basis to oversee the production of the Magazine. Celia will work closely with the Editorial Committee and be responsible for commissioning and managing the writers, as well as working alongside the designer, printer and mail house.

At the Board level, we welcome Doreen Bestmann, who takes over as Chair from Jonathan Baker. Doreen joined the Board in 2016 and has a keen interest in dance related governance with extensive business and commercial skills. She has held leadership positions, including president, for the Middle Eastern Dance Association of New Zealand (MEDANZ).

Anton Carter, Chief Executive says; "We are looking forward to having Kirstie, Tia and Celia join the DANZ whānau as we enter a very busy second half of the year to deliver our programme of services and projects that enable and amplify the success of the entire dance sector, in all its diversity."
