Trustees for the annual Russell Kerr Lecture in Ballet & Related Arts invite you to the fourth lecture in the series. Anne Rowse will deliver this year's lecture:

Scripting the Dreams -- the life & work of Russell Kerr

Sunday 28 February 2021      4.00 -- 5.00pm

It is hoped that a choreography by Russell Kerr not before seen in Wellington will be included as part of the presentation -- to be danced by two members of Turid Revfeim's Ballet Collective Aotearoa.

Video excerpts from a number of Russell Kerr's major works for RNZB, vivid reminders of his decades of prolific dance-making, will also be included. This will be a poignant tribute to 91 year old Russell, the father figure of ballet in New Zealand, by his lifelong friend and colleague, Anne.

The lecture will be followed by a celebration of the recently published book Kristian Fredrikson, Designer by Dr.Michelle Potter. Michelle delivered the inaugural lecture in this series in 2018, on her researches towards this book so it is a wonderful outcome to be now marking the handsome volume published by Melbourne Books.  Copies will be available for sale, at $65.00.  The event is supported by a generous grant from the Australian High Commission, Wellington. We are saddened that Michelle is unable to travel from Canberra for the event, but we will be communicating with her on the day.

We will also raise a glass to Bill Sheat, one of the RKL trustees, who died recently and whose moving funeral was held at the Embassy Theatre at the end of January.

VENUE:  The venue is The Long Hall, Maida Vale Road, Roseneath. The event has free entry but due to catering and seating arrangements it is essential to rsvp your attendance. You will receive in response a confirmation, a numbered entry pass, and further details of the programme and access to the venue.

Do please join us for what promises to be a memorable gathering.
