Our focus discipline includes Acting for Screen and Theatre; Directing and Writing for Screen; Film & TV Production; Live Performance & Technologies; Contemporary Dance and Choreography; and Music. 

Your Position

As our Lecturer - Dance, you'll bring your specialist capabilities in Contemporary Technique, Choreography and Production. We're looking for you to teach current contemporary techniques, choreography and performance, you'll also be comfortable in contributing to the artistic vision and operational supervision of production.

You'll work closely with our academic staff to support student learning and educational outcomes in teaching activities as well as contributing to technical and team meetings.

Our acting, dance, directing and writing, screen arts and performance technology students develop and produce over 100 dance, stage and screen productions each year, collaborating with students from other Unitec programmes. You can understand how exciting it is to be at Unitec.

Your experience

You'll bring demonstrable expertise in relevant dance based practice contribution (professional/ industry/community), and can demonstrate your commitment to excellence in learning and teaching, and to the provision of high-quality educational experiences for students.

Either way, you're an effective communicator, who is confident in speaking to small and large groups. You'll have exceptional attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to work well under pressure. You can also work efficiently in a collaborative teaching space, are digitally savvy, and an active team player.

It is essential to have a tertiary qualification in the discipline of Dance and to be research active.
