Availability: 10 – 12 hours a week, Mon. 16 September – 13 December 2019                                                                                   

About NZDC

The New Zealand Dance Company is a crusade for dance with a vision to create sustainable, high-calibre dance productions and is dedicated to NZ’s finest contemporary dance practitioners. We work collaboratively with NZ and International choreographers, composers, musicians and designers to make world class dance productions. As part of NZDC’s Youth and Community Engagement Programme, we visit schools across the nation to deliver performances and professional workshops that enable young people who would not normally have access to professional dance performances.

Role Description

Your role as an Administration & Marketing Intern is to assist the Marketing and Funding Manager  in successful administration, planning, coordinating and delivery of The New Zealand Dance Company’s marketing. You will play a vital part in the health of the organisation and gain valuable on-the-job experience in a fast-paced and exciting environment where no two days are the same. As a small, but mighty team, you will have the opportunity to communicate across the organisation and work alongside all members of the team.  If you love social media, writing, thinking creatively, organising and are looking for the opportunity to gain tangible arts administration and marketing experience, this is the role for you. 

Key Responsibilities:

Administration Support

  • Assist with general office administration including filing and keeping office supplies stocked
  • Assist with preparation of funding applications and reports 

Marketing & Communications Support

  • Support digital content creation and copywriting for:
  • Social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube)
  • Electronic Direct Mail (EDMs)
  • Website 
  • Outreach for marketing Youth and Community Engagement programmes 
  • Assisting with collating surveys, data and files as required
  • General administrations (eg. data entry, research, and artist liaison)

Essential requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Excellent writing and editing abilities
  • Methodical and organized approach to work
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Must be able to provide your own laptop


  • Interests in digital and website design
  • Basic design skills in InDesign and Photoshop
