Part-time Dance Teacher - Believe Dance Studio

Believe Dance Studio is all about the love of dance and nurturing that love to a wide variety of students. We don't offer exams or do competitions, instead we focus on growing a passion for this art form by having loads of fun in a non-pressured environment. We offer a specialised preschool programme that changes themes each term, with the remainder of our ballet classes based around (but not limited to) the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus.
In order to succeed in this roll you would need to possess the following qualities:
- Be comfortable and experienced with young children
- Be able to take control of a class of up to 12 students
- Be patient but firm
- Be confident in your dance abilities as parents have a viewing room to the studio
- But most importantly, be a fun; lively; adaptable person
Further to the above qualities we are looking for someone who has previous ballet experience. There may be further opportunities to teach Jazz too, so somebody with a background in both dance genres would be an advantage.
You do not necessarily need to be a qualified ballet/dance teacher for this role (although someone working toward a dance teaching qualification would be great). We would consider somebody with significant dance training/background.
About the role:
This is a SATURDAY term-time position between the hours of 9:00am - 12:00pm. Some flexibility would be great for additional times (e.g. show time & Christmas party/assessments) etc. We need a dedicated teacher who will show up every week. As there is so much time off for school holidays etc, we expect that any holidays should be booked off in this time.
Syllabus and class material will be provided, but you would still need to do some class planning to make sure that all the work is being covered and that there is a variety of skills being taught. We are very much against teaching the same thing week in and week out!
Wage is dependent on experience and this is not an employed position. You will effectively be a self-employed contractor who is liable for your own tax etc.
How to apply:
Please send your CV and a short cover letter to the below address. Please make sure to include all your current and past dance performance and teaching experience.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
