Taught by choreographers Michael Parmenter MNZM and Lucy Marinkovich, and with dance artist Emmanuel Reynaud, the Folk and Waltz workshop explores traditional folk dance and waltz forms that inspired the creative process for the New Zealand Festival commissioned dance theatre production Strasbourg 1518. A warm u p will be taught by Emmanuel and the workshop will be co-led by Michael and Lucy, who will share some of the complexities of rhythm, spatial patterning and partnering that underpin these dance forms.

Michael Parmenter is a leading New Zealand Choreographer whose name is synonymous with bold and innovative contemporary dance. He has created some of the most challenging and exciting theatrical works presented in New Zealand.


Lucy Marinkovich is the Artistic Director and Choreographer of Wellington company Borderline Arts Ensemble. 


Emmanuel Reynaud has worked internationally for over 15 years as a dancer, collaborator, and teacher.
