Dr. Marianne Schultz

DANZ welcomes Marianne Schultz to its Auckland based team in the position of Dance Advisor

Marianne has been involved in dance for many years as a dancer, teacher, choreographer, rehearsal director, reviewer and historian. She has an expansive knowledge of dance, having worked with young dance pupils to tertiary level students and professional dancers/dance companies to the general public. She brings to DANZ strong links in both the professional and educational sectors of dance, together with music and theatre practitioners, which will assist building on the great work achieved by Susan Jordan during her time in the DANZ Auckland office.

We are looking forward to working with Marianne to raise the visibility of dance in Aotearoa and provide support to the Auckland dance community. Marianne’s skills and experience provide a solid foundation for her to be an advocate and spokesperson for dance in the Auckland region. She will commence work with DANZ on 27 April, initially on a part time basis while she completes publication of her book for Palgrave Macmillan, Performing Indigenous Culture on Stage and Screen: 'A Harmony of Frenzy'. This history of the  performing arts from the 1860s to the late 1920s examines the development of cultural hybridity in New Zealand.

Marianne can be contacted on (09) 370 0482, email advisor@danz.org.nz, or feel free to pop into the DANZ office in Auckland if you are passing by.
